Startled
whatever sweet wine
flows past those lips
thirsting like the desert
for more rain coming
with the wind,
forever it will be a sign
not everything transpires
into wine and only those grapes
which have that precious juice
shall produce what it takes
to make men silly or sweet
like angels forever staring
at the ceiling as if fixed icons
startled by feelings
which bent in the wind
like the reed in the pond.

ΚΑΤΑΠΛΗΞΗ
οποιοδήποτε γλυκό κρασί
κυλά μέσα από εκείνα τα χείλη
που διψούν όπως η έρημος
περισσότερη βροχή να έρθει
με τον άνεμο,
θα είναι για πάντα σημάδι
πως δεν γίνονται όλα
κρασί παρά μόνο όσα σταφύλια
έχουν τον πολύτιμο χυμό
να παράγουν ό,τι χρειάζεται
να σε κάνει ανόητο ή γλυκό
όπως άγγελοι που διαρκώς κοιτάζουν
το ταβάνι σαν ακίνητες εικόνες
που κατέπληξαν συναισθήματα
και λυγίζουν στον άνεμο
όπως το αγριόχορτο στη λίμνη.

Welke zoete wijn ook
over mijn lippen stroomt
die zoals de woestijn
naar regen dorsten
die komt met de wind,
het zal altijd een teken zijn
niet alles verandert
in wijn en alleen die druiven
die dat kostbare sap bevatten
zullen wat nodig is voortbrengen
om mannen stom of zoet te maken

Sobresaltado
Cual vino dulce
fluye por esos labios
anhelando como el desierto
que venga más lluvia
con el viento,
para siempre será una señal
de que no todo se convierte
en vino y sólo aquellas uvas
que tienen este precioso jugo
producirán lo que se necesita
para volver a los hombres tontos o dulces
como ángeles, que con la mirada perdida,
miran en el techo como iconos fijos
sobresaltado por los sentimientos
que se doblan por el viento
como la mala hierba en el estanque.
