Andretti Stathi and Liana Sakelliou Schulz

Her contribution to the 'Myth of the City' conference was a paper she gave while the group was in Chania, and the poetic descriptions of cities up for discussion. Her sensitive nature was what kept her quiet, mainly in the background, but still attentive and present whenever important discussion points were in need to be made. She translated Maja Panajatova's poem Antwerpen into Greek and English. Her nature was to promote more others than claim herself to be a poetess when compared to someone like Katerina Anghelaki Rooke. Her background was also more academic and practical as shown by her Ph D thesis being about Elytis. It was important that she was present during the Easter Workshop in Kamilari 1956 since it took place just after Elytis had died, and so she helped us recall the works of this poet.

One of her last works was the publication of a book about the olive tree and how different poets relate to that tree. It reflects her profound wisdom and appreciation as to what governs really Greek life once one gets to know it. Like many others she moved from Holland to Greece, in order to marry a Greek man and she stayed by becoming fluent in the Greek language, so that she could understand the subtle nuances.
