Currently UNESCO is under siege, financially speaking, after the USA stopped paying its contribution - 25% of the total budget - out of protest that the organization has accepted Palestine as full member. The Delegation was to met with the director of UNESCO, but who was at that time in the United States to resolve precisely this issue. 
Instead, a meeting was arranged with Katerina Stenou, Director of the Intersectoral Platform for a culture of peace and of non-violence. Katerina Stenou was a key person responsible for the UNESCO initiative on 'cultural diversity'

In this cathedral Philip Meersman married Rozalina while Bernhard Beutler bid farewell to his job as director of Goethe in Brussels due to retirement by enjoying in this church an organ recital.

    - an "informal" talk about what WPM is doing in order to see what synergies are possible.
Key topic:
"the connection between poetry and peace, the reconstruction of the human spirit, the reconciliation and recovery of nature, the unity and cultural diversity of peoples, material poverty and poetic justice, and possible actions to take in favor of the globalization of poetry."

One of the goals is to include most of the strongest international poetry festivals, poets, schools of poetry and printed and virtual publications, to increase our mutual cooperation and thus energize the individual and collective voice of poetry in our time."

at Flemish Literature Fund in Antwerp

The beautiful architecture of the building which houses the Literary Foundation as much as the buildings in the surrounding area are testimonies of the rich cultural heritage in Antwerp.


Flemish Literature Fund in Antwerp provides funds for travels by authors and poets and funds literary festivals. 
They also give funds for translation of Flemish authors into other languages and the other way around as well. 
They are also in contact with the "Nederlandse Taalunie" which is an international organisation that "guards" the Dutch language around the world and also has specific actions (the Dutch Poetry Day - the third thursday of the month of January).

at Creative Writing Centre

 

 Creatief Schrijven, the Flemish organization for non-professional writers in Flanders which organizes also writing workshops, has an advanced Writing Academy and organizes different other events and publishes books related to writing (not only poetry).
 An Leenders is director of the organization.
Creatief Schrijven is also one of the main partners in the Belgian and European Championship Poetry Slam
.

Another project, 'Poetry Reaching Out,' attempts to enable the art of poetry to reach out to a broader audience, in both a social and artistic sense."

Many cities already have a city poet. So Brussels could not be left out. Prose writer David Van Reybrouck and poet Peter Vermeersch worked out a city poet scheme tailor-made for Brussels: a multicultural and multilingual poetry collective.

Passa Porta offers the collective guidance in its creative work and unburdens it of non-creative red tape. The public programme will not solely be organised by Passa Porta. Other organizations can book the collective via Passa Porta.

The Collective and Passa Porta want to organize 4 or 5 literary projects each year. The largest and most important project thus far is The European Constitution in Verse.

The members of the Collective are: Liliane Wouters, Frank De Crits, Xavier Queipo and Manza.

Laurence Vielle and Geert van Istendael were members of the Collective in 2008-2009.
