Workshop 2: "Regional / Urban Planning and Culture"

Urban/Regional Planning and Culture starts really a new discussion about planning, economic development and implications for urban and regional entities. The experts who came together in this workshop and who were coordinated by Anna Arvanitaki have all made their knowledge available to the European Union in a most substantial way. For example, Michel Parkinson was instrumental to giving shape to the first Urban Programm of the European Union. The workshop was preceded by the main speech of Andre Loeckx who used his experiences with Habitat, but also his own insights as urban planner and architect at the Catholic University of Leuven to outline his vision of future cities having to cope with fragmentation in a flow economy. This workshop together with the poets laid the ground for the follow-up conference 'Myth of the City' held in Crete 1995.
